REHABILITATION OF PIERRE RAJON STADIUM IN BOURGOIN JALLIEU

In December 2018, the legendary Pierre-Rajon stadium in Bourgoin-Jallieu received a new North grandstand. The CSBJ Rugby club can now welcome its supporters and players in a building completed to a high standard.

The renovation of the stadium began in May 2018, so as not to hinder the season of Federal 1. GL events, agent of the group, surrounded itself with a team of local experts like Chanut Society, Laurent Bugaut Architect, TecBat and CET Engineering.

The construction began with the demolition of the old grandstand and existing cloakroom. The new north stand will have offices, 820-capacity seating and a 430sqm sports building on the ground floor. The club can now grow in a building that conforms to the Label Stades of the National Rugby League, consisting of two players cloakrooms, a referee cloakroom, an infirmary and official premises and local anti-doping.

Cloakrooms were constructed in precast concrete, with pre-insulated walls, pre-slabs and beams. This installation, designed without interior accessories, saves space and allows for quick installation. The locker room is independent of the modular stand who can be dismantled if any future redevelopments are required.

Thanks to its location at the end of the field, this new grandstand is characterised by the exceptional quality of sightlines offered to spectators. With a step height of 40cm and a depth of 75cm, the latter provides a visual bearing coefficient of C135 minimum.

Our work has made it possible to offer the town a turnkey project to suit its redevelopment program. One of the main challenges was to preserve the underground networks and electric supply to the lighting masts. Another challenge was that of watering the ground and waste-water treatment.

This project was a great challenge for our team to create National Rugby League approved cloakrooms and it was completed in a record time of seven months.
