DESIGN AND INSTALLATION - FORVILLE MARKET – TEMPORARY HALLS
GL events has been commissioned by the city of Cannes to set up a temporary location to accommodate the merchants of the Forville Market during the two-year rehabilitation of the historic market.
Built in 1884 and covered in 1932, it is one of the most famous markets in the region. A true place of life, exchange, and meeting, the Forville Market is highly appreciated by the residents of Cannes. The city was keen to preserve this heritage during the renovation period.
The project aimed to provide both merchants and residents with an open and easily accessible market space that naturally fits into the urban landscape while minimizing the occupation of public space.
To meet this specific demand, our teams installed a 525 m² semi-permanent structure. This structure is distinguished by custom-made greige-colored tarpaulins, promoting harmonious integration into the urban landscape. The roof is printed with a pattern simulating the appearance of zinc, perfectly harmonizing with the nearby bandstand, creating an aesthetic continuity in the public space. Additionally, weights matching the greige color of the structure were specially designed for discreet and elegant integration.
Moreover, the two gear top were printed in the colors of the Forville Market, ensuring optimal visibility, and specific signage, printed on the tarpaulins, was created to facilitate customer orientation.
To enhance the experience for exhibitors and ensure everyone's safety, we also installed ambient and emergency lighting, fire alarms, and power outlets.
The realization of this project had to adhere to a tight schedule of 3 months from the launch of the call for tenders to the installation of the semi-permanent building, including assembly in just four days.
The + : GL events, as a service provider, ensures the supply and storage of a second tarpaulin, allowing for the cleaning of the first tarpaulin if needed, without interrupting the market's activity.
